what should society do to prevent innocent people from being accused and presumed guilty in the future?
Many innocent people are being accused of crimes/sins they did not commit. They stay in the jail for years and they are innocent people, so how can society prevent these people from being accused if they are not guilty?

Why don’t you start by doing something about these tv shows that try a person in the media, and declare them guilty before they ever get to see a judge? Let’s ban Nancy Grace!

There isn’t much you can do once you are accused if it is a corrupt system. People should try not to get involved in the first place.

This is an unfortunate byproduct of the human condition. As long as there is such a thing as “crime” there will be victims – directly or indirectly.
We cannot put impediments in place that would limit our ability to either make accusations in which the accuser reasonably believes his/her statements to be true, or to detain the supposed criminal.
Think of the consequences – letting criminals go free, further deterring would be witnesses from calling in.
I’m not saying NOTHING can be done, certainly we can improve or try to remove the politics from court proceedings for example, in order to remove some of the pressure the DAs office has to convict, or of the police to find a suspect.

To prevent them from being accused? There is next to nothing. I mean it would be great if eyewitness accounts were perfect. It would be great if we could get DNA evidence or perfect fingerprints every time and everyone’s DNA and fingerprints were in a National Database(and I DON’T support that being done, I believe in a right to privacy if you have yet to do anything to get them put in that database). To help end the assumption of guilt I DO have an idea that would help. Let’s stop broadcasting that the person has been accused of a crime. Let’s start worrying publishing the name AFTER the person is found guilty.
