i don’t think it’s good or evil. it is natural. we are social creatures and it is our tendency to organise ourselves in such a manner. so, it brings out both the best and the worse in us. i don’t really know how hermits get on, i’ve never met one, but it would be interesting to get the perspective of someone who has had the balls to walk away from the things of man…

In my honest opinion,
Society is responsible for countless acts of violence and destruction.
I was doing some research on the Columbine High School massacre and I blamed society.
The media blames individuals of society such as Marilyn Manson for everything that people of a certain stereotype do.
Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris were goths and they shot over 30 people in a high school before taking there own lives. The media immediately pointed the blame at Marilyn Manson.
In a conclusion, yes I do think it brings out the worst in people.

society breeds conformity…while I have much contempt for conformers and conformity it is not evil…just soulless

I’d really need your definition of society.
Well first, I don’t think ‘evil’ exists.
Secondly, in terms of society being civilization, nature can bring out what one might conceive to be the worst too. Ever seen a hungry lion’s interaction with an antelope? Not very pretty, but very natural though. It is common knowledge that eating another living person, is a bad or wrong thing.
My main point is that like nature, society can seem a bad thing but it also has it’s perks.
Also, society is driven and maintained by nature, they’re not very far apart, in my opinion.
(Now, concerning bombs and guns not being natural, they’re just tools too commonly available for all the people that don’t know how to act civilized but I don’t think they should be gotten rid of. They’re very entertaining and can be used safely for such purposes.)
In short, it’s not ‘evil’ and it shows it’s beautiful and ugly side.
