The Poverty Issue in a Modern Society

Society sets the norms and standards which the individuals must conform to in order to be assimilated into the community. Everything that an individual do is dictated and influenced by the overall perception of society and those who are part of it. Thus, our own thinking about our present circumstances should not be confined within what we do directly with our lives, but should take into consideration the fact that society plays a hand in the structuring of our lives relative to the whole community.

There is always a connection between our individual selves and the society where we live. Our own experiences are derived from living in a society as we go on with our lives. The status of relationship between an employee and an employer and how they interact with each other, for example, is already set by society. The choice to conform with this standard is left to the discretion of the individual; to state otherwise, the will or drive to persevere in life is left to the individual. If he strives in his work, he will succeed; if not, he will be called as a failure.

Hence, when one queries about his purpose in the world, he must relate the function of his life not only according to his own perception, but rather his relationship with the society.

Society always impacts an individual’s life experiences. It is a relation where one is indispensable without the other. Personal experiences don’t manifest without the society creating an environment conducive to the creation of these experiences as a person goes on with his life. On the other hand, the present state of a society is the collective experiences of the individuals living in it.
