What do I need legally to get a fund raiser for the Humane Society to get sponsors?
Next August I am planning a fantasy football fundraiser for the local Humane Society. What do I have to have to get sponsors to acknowledge it? I can do all the letters but like do I need a tax number or would I use the Humane societies tax number. That kind of thing. Thank you for your help!

The simplest way is to get a letter of introduction from the HS, granting you permission to hold a fund-raiser in their name.
You can use that to solicit merchants for goods and services – which you MUST account for, then apply this merchandise in an auction, raffles, or whatever other means you wish.
Very minor donations (say, 6 packs of soda) may be used as door prizes in order to entice others to attend.
So be prepared to make a sales pitch to these same merchants and also count on spending a lot of time on call backs as you nearly always need to meet with ownership, not merely management.
It’s best to have several volunteers helping you in this quest as it is quite time consuming. Assign each a geographical area.
