At the top was the Tlatoani (TheKing)
next was the Cihuacoatl (like a Prime Minister)
next were the Tecuhtli (Nobles) advisors to the King
then there were Priests, Generals, Judges, Tax Collectors
Each part of Aztec society was divided into Calpullis (districts of both family and non-family members)
The head of each Calpulli (district clan) was both a warrior and a farmer. He was called a Calpullec.
Boys and girls were both educated in segregated schools, which were boarding schools at a certain age. Boys learned military arts, and the talented ones and nobles went to special schools where they learned writing, astronomy, and military tactics in order to be leaders.
Females went to their own schools but they didn’t have a military emphasis, and emphasized the “home arts”.
Boys lived with male priests-teachers and girls lived with women Priestess-teachers.
Education was mandatory for both sexes, and all classes of society.
There were two classes of society: the Nobility (Tecuhtli) and the Common People (Macehualtin).
The entire society was a warrior society.
They also stressed education as a means of attaining power.
