1. “This must mean less intelligent people go to college”…. Clearly, you have never heard of the ROTC programs. ROTC kids were always very bright in the schools I’ve been in.
2. The best and the brightest go to the Air Force, my friend.
3.National defense is best left in the hands of smart people. Also, the military just molds some people to be very smart, discipled individuals. It’s a chicken-or-the-egg thing. I think that smart Americans join the military, and that the military makes smart people.

But in special ops and technical positions, you better fawking believe it. Kid at my schools with the highest grades and an IQ of like 142 got picked up by the military.

because being a warrior today is not about sheer numbers being utilized as cannon fodder. the level of technology used in prosecuting a war is staggering. that requires soldiers who are also scholars and sophisticated thinkers.

i put on a uniform nearly 30 years ago and stood my post on that wall for you. i have nothing but admiration and respect for those who continue to do so today. without the best and the brightest selflessly shielding your body with theirs, we would very quickly be over-run by the barbarians at the gates.

Would you want a group of dumbasses defending the country? Despite what you see in Hollywood films, being in the military isn’t all mindless shooting and explosions. You have to have the intelligence to know your enemy, anticipate his next move and strategically bring him down. Plus there’s the fact that one must have a college degree to be an officer in the armed forces.

And FYI, the current commander of USCENTCOM has a PhD in International Affairs from Princeton University and was a distinguished cadet at West Point.
