Do you think modern Western society pressurises and pushes us to achieve superficially impressive accolades at?
the expense of subtler but more important qualities of character? I mean we are so driven by wanting to be NO1, top dog, and men and women are praised on meeting these milestones but often sacrificing the things that really make them people of value. I am speaking for instance about the high achieving female lawyer who is sucessful and yet is not gracious, sensitive, empathetic, spiritual, gentle because she is putting forth pretensions all the time? She overlooks what is really important because she buys into all of the lies of society.
