My local humane society is very poorly run. I want to help and volunteer there but no calls are answered and when I go there the doors are locked. I wold eventually like to help promote the humane society but until then what do I do?

My mom’s and my budget have tightened in the past few months due to some issues with my stepdad leaving us. I was wondering if it was possible to take my dog to the local humane society and have the vet give her a check up. Our regular vet’s clinic charges high prices for a regular checkup. All feedback is highly appreciated.

I got a dog last week, who has behavioral problems that are beyond me to remedy and the Humane Society said she would not be put back out for adoption because of these problems.

I am in the process of rescuing a dog. Tomorrow the humane society is bringing a dog to my home to see if it is a good fit, as well to probably check out my house to be sure it is pet friendly.

We are going down and filling out an ap tomorrow for a dog from the humane society…I’m so excited! But I am wondering how long it takes from the time you fill out the ap to when you get to take the dog home?
ya I mean a dog, not God, obviously :)
You guys are all weird…but really funny.

I want to volunteer at Toronto Humane Society and I want to walk the dogs, clean the cages and make them food or anything else I could do to help the animals. Does anyone know how old I have to be? And another question, Can anyone foster a dog?

I’ve heard the Humane Society is snotty regarding placements of animals. For example, I’ve heard that they won’t give dogs to people who plan to have them be “outside” dogs. Is this true? What other sort of rules do they have concerning placement?
Thanks to those of you who haven’t assumed that I’m unfit to own a pet. I also didn’t say myself that the HS is snotty- I’m simply trying to get a more rounded idea of what the HS expects of its adoptive owners to see if we make a good fit.

I’m a volunteer with the Humane Society, and we’re planning a fundraising day in the park in a few weeks, and we’ve been trying to come up with different “stations”, contests, or games to raise money for the animals. We’ve already thought of the following:

We are looking to adopt a new puppy/dog and I have seen prices from $77.00 up to $300.00.
In my opinion $300.00 is alot for a humane society when you can go to a breeder and buy a dog for about the same or a little more.
What do you think?
Both the $77.00 and $300.00 include sterization and 1st round shots (for puppies) or current shots (for grown dogs)
