After all, we are free, right? Free to choose? In a free society, wouldn’t the decision whether to have health insurance be left to a free individual and not on mommy government as Comrade Obama wants it to be?

I have noticed nothing extremely productive is coming out of the government no matter what political side you are on. Examining media’s way of emphasizing a right vs left mind has fostered feelings of hating on each other.

Innovation is only valuable to the extent that it maximizes profit. While millions starve to death as a result of capitalism’s inefficient allocation of resources, the capitalist thinks of technology to satisfy the “demands” (artificial needs) of the middle class consumers. The extreme victims of capitalism have no say in anything as they lack purchasing power, so providing sustainable alternatives to essential needs is not considered. Although indeed it is possible to feed the world, it is not profitable because these people lack purchasing power. People in 3rd world countries cannot produce the food necessary to sustain themselves because of problems like soil erosion and desertification. Why are we not looking for solutions? Shouldn’t a society satisfy the needs of all people, not simply those who have purchasing power?

What is something in society that can be changed, and needs to be changed?
It could be anything. From steroid use in sports, to how negative the news media is. Pick any topic, and the best one gets 10 points.

It just doesn’t make sense to me how there would be order. Somalia (the only place I know that you could call an anarchy kind of) has a very weak, deteriorating government that has been overrun by pirates. If someone could explain to me how an anarchist society would thrive and prosper, that would be great.

Now, this is just my theory, but I thought I would put it out there to see how it goes over.

To me, it can be compared to a car. Liberals are the accelerator. They push a society forward, as progress is a natural occurrence. Conservatives are like the brakes, keeping things from going to far too fast.

“It takes a village to raise a child.” This proverb from the African tribes of Igbo and Yoruba from the regions of Nigeria has more than the intended meaning of the proverb. This proverb mentions about a child to be risen. The child of today is the potential future leader. A child is evolved by the community as its leader, not with many inputs and initiatives, but hopes and dreams. The community leadership development happens as a process, with or without structured systems. The learning and knowledge has to be imbibed by interested individuals from his experiences and environment.

Historically in some societies and cultures the potential leaders were given training, through a systematic process. The potential leaders were identified in a very young age. The training systems for these potential leaders included contents, which addressed the all areas of leadership competency development. However these training initiatives were available only to the children of royal families and the elitist strata of the society.

At present, such systems are not prevalent in many societies. Leaders evolve themselves. Most of the current social leaders across the globe have evolved out of their passion. The drive, inclination and interest they possessed, engrossed and sustained have helped them in their success.

Right from the time mankind started living as a society; the community raised a leader with specific role. The leaders were expected to play the role of a provider, protector and visionary who would take the burden of handling the community’s fabric and future. In other words, the role of the community leader was defined in the context of “Society” as a large “Family”. The community leader was metaphorically compared with the head of the family.

In these eras, to a great extent the competencies of the community leaders could be specified by communities, in more or less measurable terms. In the process of evolving their leaders, the community involved every one to contribute to develop the right leader with the right competencies, required. Like a child is nurtured, educated and grown in the womb of the entire village, the emerging leaders were developed with utmost care and concern by the members of the communities. Leadership, for the societies of the past, could be chosen to be a boon or bane, through the committed participation of its members.

Society’s responsibility to choose and evolve a leader is critical. Hence more systemic leadership development systems have to emerge for future, socially relevant leadership development.

Health, Auto, and Financial insurance. How in a capitalistic society can everyone be happy since supposedly in capitalistic society YOUR MONEY is ONLY YOUR MONEY? Your money is what YOU have worked for? It seems like insurance and capitalism has nothing to do with each other and can’t function without making a big mess.

What should one do if one feels disillusioned with life and the values of our society?
What does one do if one doesn’t want to go to school to get a degree so that one could be a wage slave regardless? What if one values something more substantial than our values of consumption and superficial relationships? What if one wants to escape for an society that glorifies consumption? Escape from the social pressures, the expectations, and the general fast paced life of modern society? This life has no value, not we are obligated to conform; to conform to the absurdity.
