How many people rebel against Societies Expectations?

Growing up in a time when what other people thought of you was the barometer of how you saw yourself; I soon learn’t to hide behind a wall of fat. My body underwent changes which were not pretty to my eye, let alone other people. I rejected myself continually.

The seeds of personal discontent had been sown long ago when my first nick name of “Porky” became a form of emotional and mental abuse. The tirade continued for many years until an unforeseen event occurred which shattered any semblance of normality in my life.

I was kicked out of home as a result of bucking up to the bully who continually and subversively attacked me as a result of being the fat ugly duckling of the family.

It’s fascinating to look back and see the triggers which change our known environment. You guessed it this was the catalyst when my body actually dropped weight so naturally and easily, I didn’t even realize it as happening until someone actually commented on my changed appearance.

Suddenly I was asked to participate in a local pageant as a floral queen.

Me? Couldn’t believe it, I had the absolute best fun and boy how I loved the positive attention. Gracing the front page over and over of the local newspaper I was bemused at the sudden attention I received. Then came a proposal out of the blue, I was asked to participate in the Miss Australia quest.

Now this is where the stumble came in. Falling back into patterns of not being good enough and equally wanting to “please” the person who supposedly loved me, I declined the invitation.

Crying myself to sleep over the following 2weeks from the inner knowing I had made a decision which I didn’t have the strength, courage, commitment and willpower to fight, a subconscious link was forged to correct this situation within my psyche.

Duhhhhh! My Soul was certainly setting me up for a massive journey of healing to value me and my worth. Years later it is fantastic to know I base all decisions on what I must do for me in order to walk the path I am born.

No longer do I live as a pattern of society’s expectations mindset.

To me, it can be compared to a car. Liberals are the accelerator. They push a society forward, as progress is a natural occurrence. Conservatives are like the brakes, keeping things from going to far too fast.

Working together, they create a balance that allows for a safe progression.

Liberals and Conservatives should not be enemies. They should work together to create a balanced society.
